Meet Karen
Karen Duncan, a founding member and the Director of Lilly Pilly Counselling Inc., brings over 30 years experience as a psychologist, manager, director, and supervisor. She is passionate about establishing trauma-informed programs and organisations within the mental health sector that deliver high-quality care and increase access for marginalised communities. Her commitment extends to supervising and supporting staff across all levels within these organisations. She leverages her natural leadership abilities and proven business acumen to forge strategic partnerships with stakeholders and promote sector-wide change.
Throughout her career, Karen has held clinical and managerial roles in a diverse array of government and non-government mental health organisations including Department of Juvenile Justice, Department of Education, The Royal Commission into Institutional Responses To Child Sexual Abuse, The Sydney Medically Supervised Injecting Centre, The Children’s Court Clinic, and various sexual assault and adolescent mental health services.
Karen is part of our wellbeing team
She has extensive experience providing training, consultation, debriefing, wellbeing checks and supervision to a range of professionals and teams, including psychologists and social workers and other professionals such as case managers, mental health nurses, support coordinators, drug and alcohol workers, specialist disability workers, lawyers and legal teams. Karen is a psychology board approved supervisor.
She has a particular interest in working with “helping professionals” and organisations around self-care and professional development.
