Meet Peter
I (He/Him) am a member of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) and an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker since 2014. In addition, I have a Medicare provider numbers and have been approved by Victims’ Services.
I provide a broad range of expertise that includes the impact of childhood trauma, such as sexual assault and domestic violence. I also provide a space to explore identity that includes gender and sexuality. In addition, I have had extensive experience working with grief and loss and suicidal ideation. I provide intervention to help people to find hope, purpose and meaning in their lives.
My work comes from a place of acceptance, with no judgement, and holds trauma-informed care and safety central to the interventions. To consider therapy requires courage and strength; this is another step to healing. I listen to your story with empathy and compassion, helping you understand yourself to become the best version of yourself. I uses several therapeutic modalities, such as Narrative therapy, Acceptance commitment therapy, mindfulness strategies, psychoeducation, systems theory, and solution-focused, all based on each person’s needs. I have completed the initial training with Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing EMDR and hope to use this modality over the coming months.
